02 - Arrange the sliced bananas evenly on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
03 - Spread the drained crushed pineapple evenly over the banana layer.
04 - Distribute the halved maraschino cherries over the pineapple layer.
05 - Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the entire fruit layer. Do not mix.
06 - Scatter the chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using, evenly over the cake mix.
07 - Drizzle the melted butter uniformly over all the contents in the baking dish.
08 - Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the edges are bubbling.
09 - Allow to cool slightly. Top with whipped cream, extra cherries, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup before serving, if desired.
