# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The lemon transforms ordinary chicken soup into something you will actually crave on cold days
  • Your crockpot does absolutely all the work while you go about your day
  • Leftovers taste even better after the flavors have had time to become best friends
02 -
  • The rice will continue absorbing liquid as it sits so the soup might be thicker the next day
  • Adding lemon juice at the beginning gives it time to mellow and blend with the other flavors
  • If the soup tastes flat at the end try a squeeze more lemon rather than immediately reaching for more salt
03 -
  • Zest your lemons before juicing them because it is nearly impossible to do afterwards
  • If you have time, browning the chicken in a skillet before adding it to the crockpot adds amazing depth
